Charity Carol Concert at St Mary's Euxton

Last Saturday Our Grand Prior Anthony Dickinson organized our annual Charity Carol Concert, raising funds for the Order's charities.

This year it was held at a new venue, St Mary's Church in Euxton. A splendid church designed by the architect E. W. Pugin.

Before a full church the Octavius Singers provided us with a wonderful evening of music and verse to raise our hearts and minds as the Christmas season approaches.
Musical Direction by James Lonsdale,
with Michelle Gorrell at the piano.

A collection raised £655 for the work of the Order of St Lazarus.

In particular, the Grand Priory is hoping to support an initiative with our Spiritual Protector, Cardinal Kambanda, in Rwanda to provide specialist education for teachers. The Church there finds itself in the position of running many schools, without which children would not be educated but with not nearly enough qualified teachers to cater for the need.

Thanks to members of the Order who attended and to Chev. Matthew Jackson, who addressed the audience, explaining some of the work of the Order.

Thanks to the parishioners of St Mary's who prepared the church and provided lots of mince pies and seemingly gallons of Mulled Wine in the Social Centre afterwards!
